San Francisco, Ca. - Stage play "The Heavy Hand" premieres in San Francisco at Stage Werx Theatre on Thursday, February 7 at 8PM and runs throughout the month. "The Heavy Hand," depicts a family tavern torn apart by the death of one of its own, amidst lust, denial, addiction and desperation.

The play is directed by Helena Nolan, written by Sean Kelly and features Tina Arriola, Maggie Mason, Eden Nelson, Esther Selk, David Chambers, Jon Fast and Mike Spiegelman. The set is designed by renowned San Francisco installation artist Paul Andrew Hayes.

Founded in 2003, Knifebeatsfinger is a small nomadic San Francisco theater company bringing all-original work to the stage. Helena Nolan, artistic director, was a founder of Popcorn Anti-Theater, and has directed many Bay Area productions including last spring's production of Lysistrata at The Live Oak Theatre in Berkeley. Sean Kelly is a veteran San Francisco comic, who has written and produced several plays, shorts, a one-man PowerPoint comedy show and made several appearances in SF Sketchfest.

The Heavy Hand runs February 7 – 24, 2008, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @
8pm; Sundays @ 2pm; at Stage Werx 533 Sutter Street, SF between Powell and
Mason.
