Halloween in The Castro can be canceled, but the holiday tradition of Grand Guignol stage spectacles endures with Thrillpeddlers’ Shocktoberfest!! 2007: Maker of Monsters, at The Hypnodrome. Shocktoberfest!! 2007: Maker of Monsters showcases one-act plays drawn from or inspired by the original repertoire of Le Theatre du Grand Guignol. The night begins with Mel Gordon’s Google;Fetish, a series of variety acts highlighting unusual sexual compulsions (complete with the daily totals of web searches for each fetish). Next up, The Maker of Monsters, Daniel Zilber’s original English adaptation of the Grand Guignol’s 1929 circus sideshow shocker. Two new one-acts, Jonathan Horton’s bone-chilling drama The Colossus and Rob Keefe’s comedy The Bloody Con, round out the bill of plays.
